Government Changes to Solar Energy Rebates

Recently, the Federal Government made changes to the rebates available for the installation of solar hot water and to the Green loans program some customers use to purchase their solar grid connect systems.

So what does this mean for customers?

Solar Hot Water Systems

For those wanting to install solar hot water systems, who at close of business on Friday had not placed their orders, the new rebate, under the household Renewable Energy Bonus Scheme they can claim is $1000, down from $1600.  This claim can now be made direct through Medicare once installation is complete.  Customers should note that this rebate continues to be for either a solar hot water system, or ceiling insulation, not both.

For those who had registered we need to complete installation of their solar hot water systems so they can lodge their paperwork prior to the 20 March 2010 deadline.  Lorraine has been in direct contact with the customers affected but if you have any questions, please call Lorraine on 1300 35 45 75.

Green Loans Scheme

The existing Green Loans Scheme arrangements will cease at the end of March, with a new loans scheme to be introduced in 2011 exclusively for low-income households.

However there are a number of different payment plans available for customers wanting to install a system, include a new AuzionEzy Pay 30-month loan.
