New RET Legislation to Help More People to Benefit from Solar Power
Late yesterday afternoon (20th Aug) the Federal Parliament passed the important Renewable Energy Target (RET) legislation, which will enable more people to claim solar credits for the installation of a solar power system.
This was great news for those of you who have been waiting since the sudden withdrawal of the solar rebate scheme on 9 June, for a new scheme to replace it.
Already more than 80 of you have taken advantage of the Auzion grant that we brought in to ensure those of you who missed out on getting your applications in by 9 June, were not disadvantaged. We will now begin the process of applying for your solar credits so we can get your systems installed.
For those who have not yet signed up for a system we are also extending our Auzion grant offer for a strictly limited time.
There has been uncertainty created about solar credits because of the sudden withdrawal of the previous grant scheme and because the RET legislation was originally presented to Parliament as part of a package with the Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) which was voted down in the Senate last week.
That is why we are so pleased the new RET legislation, which offers new benefits to recipients, has now passed offering certainty to homeowners and the renewable energy sector.
Some of the benefits of the new scheme include no income cap on solar credits so everyone is eligible and the delays created by the rebate application process will be eliminated.
